Are you coming home for the holidays? Is it one of the few times you get to see your aging parents during the year? You're certainly not alone. It can be quite a shock to see your parents if you haven't seen them for a number of months. What may have seemed like a normal aging process a few months ago seems like a full blown bout of some kind of disease process just a few months later. How is it that our once invinsible parents have become so frail? How did they get so old so fast? How did I get so old so fast?
I spent some time talking with a Geriatric Care Manager, Carla Sutter, director of the Fairview Care Management Program in Minneapolis. I asked her to share some tips for adult children who are coming home for the holidays. How in the world do we return home to our jobs, families and other responsibilities knowing our aging parents are so far away and could call us with an emergency at any time?

Great Advice!
Taking care of family and looking out for them is always important, but especially so over the holidays.
